I'd been eyeing this plaid maxi skirt at work for the past several weeks, and finally the combination of cabin fever (thanks, Snowstorm 2011!) and the onset of the semiannual Squash Blossom half-off sale had me beelining for the rack the first day I could leave the house. The recent onslaught of emails announcing maxi skirts are continuing to be in for Spring confirmed it; I need this piece in my wardrobe.
I think I can find a few reasons to wear it all the time. It's surprisingly versatile--at first I thought it might be too Victorian because of the length, but this maxi is a bit of a chameleon! I think Free People has the right idea:
Rocker chic with leather
Romantic with lace and fur
Or edgy with biker boots and a statement belt.

Here's how I wore it. Anything look familiar?
Outfit details:
Prairie Underground Long Cloak Hoodie
CP Shades Fanny maxi skirt
Frye Carson pull on boot
I didn't realize I had repeated the top and boot combo until I started editing these photos! Isn't it funny how swapping out just a few pieces can change the entire vibe of an outfit? If only everything I owned could transform from business casual to witchy woman, then I'd be set for spring!
I love it. I love that coat even more!
ReplyDeleteI think you did a fabulous job with the outfit. Love that even the coat is a perfect complement to the look.
ReplyDeleteJinah, would you mind if I used one of your pics of you in your peppered and striped skirt for a feature I'm working on featuring how different bloggers have styled it? I love your styling of it and would love to include yours.

I like the maxi skirt that you're wearing, because it doesn't go all the way to the ground. I'm not sure how I feel about maxi skirts, but if they are in this spring, then maybe I should try one on. I think I like your outfit better than the way the models are wearing the skirt in the photos above. You styled this skirt very well!
ReplyDeleteThis is wonderful, Jinah! You look absolutely cozy and very rocker-chic. The dark hues, hooded coat, plaid, and boots just reminds me of a grunge-inspired outfit, but in a more fashion-forward way.
ReplyDeleteOh, that's a pretty skirt! Now that I think about it, maxi skirt may be perfect for winter - keeps you warm and chic, yes?

you look super cozy and stylish, and i like how the plaid adds just a bit of grunge to the sweet skirt!
ReplyDeleteLove this, Jinah! I'm so bad at wearing maxi skirts. You know how I did to see Sartorialist with you? I haven't worn it sense!
ReplyDeleteps- Thank you for all the sweet words about my engagement, Jinah! xoxo,Lar
LOVE your site banner!
ReplyDeleteAre Frye boots as good as everyone says?

Samantha--Frye boots are my absolute favorite! I have more pairs than anyone should own, but I wholeheartedly recommend them as a shoe brand. All of mine are comfortable, high quality, and have lasted me years of abuse.
