Photo fun: Diana Mini

Unfortunately, I've been endlessly delayed at the Charlotte airport en route to my grand French adventure. This means, lucky for you--an impromptu post!

So I briefly updated you guys on my photographic endeavors (as in, I took one refresher course). Inspired by the additional knowledge, I finally purchased another lens for my DSLR for the trip.

Because I was feeling extra artsy fartsy, I decided I needed a little film camera to take with me as well. And to be totally honest, I've been itching to add a lomo to my collection of cameras. And as it happens, the local Urban Outfitters is always equipped with a decent selection, usually with a handful on sale.

I found a Diana MINI (Alice in Wonderland edition!) among all of the random home markdowns and decided it needed to come home with me. These are all from a test roll I shot last week. I thought I would feel more pretentious, but really the camera itself is so precious that my obnoxious paparazzi shots come off more as cute.

Des Petites Vacances

May 12, 2011

A quickie outfit post and announcement before I run off to work, and weekend social whirlwind!

I just wanted to pop in and say "bonjour" before I say "au revoir" for a couple days--I leave for France on Monday and will be gone for 10 days! Just a little warning before I disappear and spend my time eating desserts and roaming the streets rather than posting on any kind of regular schedule.

May 12, 2011

I'll have access to the web and gobs of photos I will surely be snapping, so I will do my best to update from across the sea!

BFF Style: Meet Lana!

Florals | Everybody, Everywear

You know, I have a lot of stylish ladies in my life, and sometimes I wish more than anything that they were bloggers too. So I took matters into my own hands and decided I would stalk my best friends with my camera.
Lana 5-10_1

This week, meet Lana! She is one of the most adventurous ladies I know when it comes to dressing up, and it always (ALWAYS) looks good. From vintage to Anthro and even Forever 21, she remixes it all. She was my partner-in-crime this past weekend in Athens, and I almost decided to trade for her vintage instead of trying to sell things... Needless to say, hers is a closet I always want to raid.

Lana is a total bookworm sometimes. Her current read is Dombey and Son by Dickens.

Lana's signature look is really good bangs. Recently she has been sporting the baby bang, Bettie Page style. I want to copy every haircut she gets. And she alone makes me want to go ginger. Immediately.

Her current online presence is limited to her Etsy site: Limon Chiffon Vintage, but expect her to be a regular on this blog! I plan to stalk her paparazzi style every chance I get.

Everybody Everywear: Florals Edition!

I managed to miss out on the past few themes, so I made it my business to get my act together for this month! So without further ado, here is me, participating with y'all on the Internets.

I think we've discussed a number of times how much of a hoarder I am. Another case in point: this midi floral skirt. When I first spotted this lovely on the rack, it was still threatening snow down South. I grabbed it thinking that I needed it very badly. And it could be the sister skirt to this one. So clearly I need both.

So of course I haven't worn it yet. In fact, it was hidden behind said sister skirt and I almost forgot about it until I started planning for the florals theme.

And as I promised, the super secret surprise photoshoot I've been babbling about went off without a hitch. You lovelies will see the photos later this evening post-editing! Maybe it will also be floral related...

The Craftermath, plus OOTD

Vintage Market Athens 1

This weekend felt like such a whirlwind! Selling at Athens Indie Craftstravaganzaa was such a blast, and Lana and I met some really amazing people. I think we made a lot of new friends, too, which was evidenced by the early lack of friendship bracelets. We were stationed right next door to one of my favorite treasure troves, Agora, and the weather could not have been better!

I think the show combined a few of my favorite things: clothing, design, and styling/merchandising. I was super happy with how the booth turned out. I kept squealing throughout the day, "How cute are we?"

Markus helped me design and cut out these banners. Mine's hanging above my desk right now!

Vintage Market Athens 4

We tried to entice people with our three favorite 60's dresses. The poster was almost an afterthought--I made the design in a panic thinking we needed as much branding and clear signage as possible.

Vintage Market Athens 5

Blogger fail: I didn't get outfits shots of either of us! Lana is wearing a gorgeous vintage terracotta and ivory dress with embroidered and cutout details, and I wore my new Dear Creatures sailor dress from Modcloth.

And since my time was spent talking to vintage enthusiasts and some of the cutest crafters ever, I put the blog on the backburner. Lucky for you, friends, I took outfit photos during the Busy Time and simply didn't have the time to post them. Here's one now!

Crop top + high waist bottom = summer uniform. The best part is the nice breeze in the back that eliminates gross summer weather sweaty lower back.

Tomorrow is an extra-special day on the blog, since it will be the debut of a new feature! If you've been paying attention in this post, you already got a sneak peek.

Going to Athens, brb

It's finally Spring, and in the south that means festival season is upon us! Besides slurping lemonade and stuffing my face with fried foods, my favorite part of any fair is browsing the artist wares.

Some of you might remember this one from last year? I love a good excuse to visit another city.

Well, even better than last year, there will be a section of vintage sellers alongside the artists' market! Better yet, I will be selling there this year! My girl Lana of Limon Chiffon Vintage and I have joined forces to bring you a huge selection of vintage goodies.

My Etsy shop bunnyday will continue to be "on vacation" until after the fair. If any of you lovelies can make it out, I'm offering my blog readers a special discount! Just print out or show me (via your phone, etc.) the following coupon for a sweet deal!

Bonjour! readers will also receive a handmade neon friendship bracelet with purchase. Just a little thank you for supporting me and being my friend!

We will be accepting cash, Paypal, and credit card payments (via Square).

Other lovely crafty ladies Jordan of fattycakes handmade and Mary Rebecca will be there as well! See you there!

Maxi Monday

As a skeptic, when many of my astrology buff friends began to warn that Mercury would be in retrograde last month, I rolled my eyes. So of course, in an ironic twist of fate, the unthinkable happened. I was in a car accident at the beginning of the month, with no injuries except to my vehicle. And so I was without my primary mode of transport for almost a month! In a city as car-centric as Atlanta, and with as many obligations in as many different neighborhoods as I currently have, it was ridiculously inconvenient.

I finally got her back a few days ago, and phew, is it good to be back in the groove of things.

May 2, 2011

So that explains the setting for this photo set--I'm sorry but I can't help celebrating! Driving a rental car was totally bizarre--no matter how toy-like my own car is, driving much else feels like I'm riding in a styrofoam packing peanut.

And this skirt is my new favorite thing. Funny how that is, that so often the newest thing in the wardrobe is easily the current favorite. When Free People sent out an e-mail featuring this very skirt (as seen in this fp blog post), I immediately knew it was for me. Maybe in multiple colors.

I think she and I will have many adventures this summer! The swish-swish of the high-low hem is perfect for the hot and humid months ahead.

Speaking of hot and humid--local friends in the South, I've got a special announcement and goodies for you tomorrow!

April Update

As of this evening, all of my final exams, papers, and projects are finally complete. Phew! I feel like a huge weight has been lifted. I'm taking it easy this summer, and it's so weird to think this is my last official school and work free summer I may ever have. I intend to make the most of it--swimming pools, barbeques, and popsicle stands, watch out!

And although I was absent for the majority of the past month, I can't say I spent all of my time being studious. I'm a strong believer in extracurriculars and full social calendars. I thought a photo update would be better than any words:

April wrapup 1
I completed my photography course at the Showcase School--
the assignments resulted in some interesting shots.

April wrapup 2: Leigh Anne
I rubbed elbows with some of the most wonderful people
in Atlanta on the happiest day of their lives.

April wrapup 3
We held an event at work for One Day Without Shoes with Toms.
I painted this skyline pair at our "Style Your Sole" table.

April wrapup 4
My favorite gingers threw a pizza party.
What better than celebrating your favorite local joint at home?

April wrapup 5: Serina's Bday
In fact, I attended parties galore! This one was especially special.

Assuming I didn't burn myself out, we will be back on a more regular blog rotation for the entire summer, starting tomorrow. Did I mention how much I missed blogging? I never want to leave you guys again!
