Early Spring picks

The weather just picked up around here and it's supposed to beautiful park picnic weather all week (finally!). These are a few things I love for this season.

J. Crew makes the perfect summery sweet cardigan. I love the little cotton flower ruffles! And it's less than $100 for cashmere! These sold out quick, so cop one if you can still find any in your size! I got the yellow and the orange.

Now we all know Frye consistently makes classic, desirable boots for fall/winter, their spring shoes are uber cute this year!


I loooove these in yellow to go with this season's floaty florals and punches of color.

I literally almost died when I saw this dress.



It's the perfect shade of smoky yellow, and I love the little scalloped inset at the neck. So. Durn. Cute! This would be adorable with those shoes I just posted.

I am rarely found without some kind of nail color on, and OPI is my favorite. Their India collection this season is so fun! I'm wearing Lunch at the Delhi today; it's a bright corally pink color that doesn't wash me out at all.

I'm not so swayed on the super brights or the vomtastic florals out this season. One of my friends is wearing a suit all spring and summer in protest.

Channeling Katie Holmes

I got a haircut! I think it's a definite upgrade. I mean, really I had to. I am a grown ass woman now out of college and I had silly hippy hair. I scheduled a last minute appointment at the Paul Mitchell school, and was super happy with the results.



I have since washed it and am starting to feel a little more Ramona Quimby than TomKat, but whatever, grown up!

Binge shopping

Aerie (by American Eagle) is currently running a (recession special...?) on all their undies 8 for $25, so I went and stocked up. I love their boyshorts and have to have all their seasonal ones with silly sayings on the butt. Even the lacy ones are included, yay! I felt a little juvenile buying rainbow spandex undies with the boybrief piping, but the lacy ones were kind of sexy.

While at the really suburban mall I stopped by Forever21 and its sister store, heritage 1981 for some cheap thrill goodies.


I loved this tote. It seems so cliche with the little motorcycles on it, but oh well. It has real leather straps and is perfect for school, errands, the beach, and even overnight.

All in all it was a good trip to the mall with none of my fave stores.

Back to Basics

I walked into the Gap today after avoiding the store for years. I mean, yes they do a preppy basic San Fransisco thing, but it's not where I beeline for hard fashion. And besides, their clothes look a little mommyish on my boyish frame. But I was pleasantly surprised by their array of floral tops and colored khakis. It's just a shame that well, everyone's doing it too at a higher quality or a better price point.

I couldn't commit to buying anything considering my (ha!) recession sparked shopping ban, but they had some really cute accessories:

They also had really cute flower fabric pins which I can't find online evidence of.

And they keep doing really exciting designer collaborations, but I feel like the hype is so much less than that for Target or Topshop. I mean, hello fabulous Pierre Hardy sandals that sold out in half a day. Fashion may be moving too fast for me to keep up these days, even the Gap!
