Confessions of a shopaholic: I got new shoes. I mean, yeah, this is a fashion blog, and buying things to keep the sartorial wheels turning makes sense. But I feel like adding anything new to my already stuffed full closet is silly. Especially with all of my talk about dehoarding, I can't help but feel guilty flashing something new on the blog.
I had to talk myself through the shoe purchase. Like some of you have heard/read me mention before, I have been waiting for these frippin' frappin' shoes to be released all year. I even allotted a chunk of my tax return towards saddle shoe acquisition.
And I'd like to think that while I am materialistic and maximalistic, I get a lot of use out of certain closet additions. Considering the shoes arrived on Friday, and I've worn them three times since then, I think they're going to be a solid addition.

And though I don't immediately reach for red shoes to anchor an outfit, I've found they go with so much! Red adds just the right amount of drama that works for date nights and is still appropriate for the classroom and the office.
I mean, what better to accent an otherwise basic outfit?
Not to mention, every time I peer at my toes, I can't help but bust into a smile!
- Anthropologie A-Bit-Unruly top by Deletta (looooove this thing!)
- J. Crew Jackie cardigan (try your local store for more color variety--mine usually has more or different shades than available online)
- J. Crew Scout chino (similar styles: here, here, and here)
- Bass loves Rachel Antonoff Wendybird loafer
- Fieldguided thunder in our hearts tote
- J. Crew Timex traveler watch
Great addition to your shoe collection... red shoes will always put a smile on my face. :) Looking good like always girl!

OMG, those shoes are so you! I love them.
ReplyDeleteLove those! I've been drawn to candy colors lately, especially red! I've been thinking about how to work red shoes into my wardrobe :)

I had a pair of red esprit loafers in the 90s that were very similar to these (minus the white, plus a silver buckle), and I ended up donating them a couple years ago... even though one of the buckles had broken off and I barely wore them anymore, I kind of regret it! It's nice to have one pair of red shoes in the wardrobe.
ReplyDeletei've been lusting after these shoes forever. they look great on you!
ReplyDeletehow is the fit? i have wide feet and i wonder if these would be too tight on me.
sharonlei--I'm usually so weird about red shoes! I definitely feel like I stepped out of my comfort zone choosing the red over the black.
ReplyDeleteRosa--I think so too! I get so excited thinking about them!
Carla--I was thinking the same thing when I was looking at the color options for this style. I just thought the red was so much more exciting than the black.
tasty moog--I do that ALL the time with so many things. I feel like I end up giving things away just as my mood changes and I want to wear them again.
Suzanna--I went by the reviews on Zappos and endless for the Bass penny loafer. I feel like they run pretty true to size, if not wide. The oxfords, on the other hand, definitely run long and I would say most people can size down a half size.
ReplyDeleteIf you're unsure, I would see if you could try on a pair of their penny loafers in person and gauge from there. The Wendybirds seem to have the same "Weejuns" sole that those have. hth!
These are so sweet- I love the grounded, casual look of loafers with girly clothing and yet rarely do it- I really need to work on bringing them more into my wardrobe!
ReplyDeleteOoooh, I love those! I'd want to pair them with everything, too! And red shoes are always so much fun. I've been dying for a pair of red heels to pair with basics.
ReplyDeleteI love the loafers! When did Bass start making such cute shoes?!
ReplyDeleteI've been bad with the shopping myself - trying to clear things out for spring by selling and donating, and what do I do, but put that money right back into new stuff!
Love, love, love these! I don't think any girl can have too many loafers :)
ReplyDeleteSuch cute shoes! They match with everything and are perfect with khakis :) I want to look for a pair in this color scheme now...so thanks for sharing!
