Ria's Bluebird

IMG_1661
Dress worn as top, H&M; skirt and necklace, Anthropologie;
flats, Jeffrey Campbell; inspired bag, Forever 21.

This is what I wore to grab brunch on Saturday at Ria's Bluebird. I probably edged out the skirt too much with the exposed-zip body-con top and the neon nails for work afterward, but you know what? I got enough compliments that I felt totally justified.

Brunch was delicious and tasted homemade. In a good way. Like you went over to your grandmother's house for breakfast. If your grandmother's cooking rivaled Paula Deen's. I hear the pancakes are out of this world, but I prefer a savory breakfast. I had a breakfast burrito. It was dense and full of delish and accompanied by the fluffiest little sweet potato cake. I polished off the whole plate and hope to come back for more soon. Rumor has it they're opening another location in Inman Park, which is marginally closer to my new place. Hooray!

I know it's been slow...

I'm aware that the blog has barely been chugging along this summer. Even my little sister complained that I wasn't posting enough -- "I'm bored, go update your blog!"

This is my sad closet at the moment.

Well for one, I am low on fashions. Rather, I've only unpacked one box of clothes (haha out of maybe 7) since moving home and have been wearing pretty much the same few things each week in addition to things I left in my closet from high school. The only things I've unpacked are go-to dresses -- I have no idea where most of my pants and skirts are. In fact, I'm starting to wonder if I could put a whole outfit together lately. I'm getting completely accustomed to wearing no-brainer dresses. I hope this is acceptable attire for business school!

I will say I have been splashing out every now and then for new accessories. I have a few more headbands and scarves and bags to disguise the fact that I am wearing the same things to work all the time.

This burger was totally larger than life. I had instant heartburn.

Also I've been doing awesome summery things. With school starting in August and having more days off than I anticipated this summer, all I want to do now is get sun and eat tons! I was worried that living in the suburbs would kill my social calendar, but I've been to plenty of picnics, concerts, and barbecues. Love it.

I'm finally getting that garage sale together for this Saturday (pending approval from the neighborhood association) to liquidate a bunch of my things in preparation for moving. I just signed the lease on an amazing house in town and will be close to so many of my favorite things and people. It's beautiful, I have enough deck space to hang my new hammock, and I can get to Jac and Jake's on foot.

Hopefully by the first week of August we'll be on a regular posting schedule for real!

Marimekko

IMG_0925
Dress, Marimekko x H&M; Vest, Rogan for Target; belt, Forever 21; sandals, Steve Madden.

I think I reached for this dress to make up for how naked I felt the day before. It was perfect for the few hours I got to spend traipsing around near the park- light and summery.

I'm pumped about all this sunshine. It's a great excuse for me to delve into my old habit of eating ice cream for every meal. And going to Rita's and Paolo's all the freaking time. Yessss.

Sweets

The Nutella brownies (well, the second batch anyway) turned out super yummy.

The saltiness of the peanut butter meshed really well with the cocoa and Nutella. And they were really moist with all the butter and peanut butter piled in. They were especially good with dulce de leche ice cream.

Mmm look at the perfect papery top.

Oh and free ice cream was extremely exciting and worth the struggle to park and the wait in a long line. I am a huge fan of frozen treats in general and I guess I come off as a huge dork in public because of it. Oh well.

The girl behind me in line was super excited too.

IMG_0899
This lady behind me was telling the kids about her dog.

One kid asks, "Ooh what is his name?"
Lady responds, "His name is Max!"
"I WAS GOING TO NAME MY DOG THAT TOO!!"
Kids are so funny.

Outfit: Dress, Anthropologie; shoes, Chie Mihara.

the sign says DONUTS

So I grew up 1. in the South and 2. as a part of a foodie family. Whenever a new delicious sounding eatery opens, it's usually my cool aunt who makes it her business to go and tell us all about it. I've been grateful for her reviews because I will pretty much eat anything even if it's mediocre or slightly off. Also because her word convinces my mom to go to the hipper restaurants in town, which is so cool.

The latest is a donut...ery. My mom kept mentioning "that donut place on 10th Street" and I would keep looking at her incredulously and respond, "Um are you talking about the place whose sign just says 'DONUTS' next to the place whose sign that just says 'TATTOOS'?" But she had a boxful sitting at home when I went home for Easter this weekend. And I ate about half of them, so I'd say they're pretty delish. And they're "handcrafted" and the box is signed.

If you indulge in deep fried delicious things, you can get caramel apple fritters, Reese's peanut butter cup donuts, and honey glazed cinnamon swirls at
