Plaid vs. Plaid
I think I got overexcited with Anthropologie's markdowns last week and ended up with both versions of this lovely shirtdress. Now I purchased both knowing that only one could stay, because owning two of the same dress was already pushing the limits of what is reasonable and necessary. I just couldn't decide at the store and knew I wouldn't be able to decide before the end of the 24 hour hold policy. So here we are, both dresses in closet, scratching my head over which color to keep.

I have already enlisted the help of my man as well as my girl Fallon, who knows my closet better than I do sometimes. I personally think the blue/green/grey is more my taste, as navy and grey are my favorite colors to wear. However, Markus thinks that the red is better suited for my skin tone and coloring. Fallon also voted for the red, since I already have the solid navy (which is a very good point!).
Can you help me settle this debate? I am starting to want to keep both, and I really shouldn't.
Outfit details:
Both dresses: Reed Shirtdress from Anthropologie (style #933208, now on sale--some might be available in some stores!)
Red plaid outfit: Anthropologie belt (+ similar), Seychelles Her Majesty shoes
Blue plaid outfit: Anthropologie Snakebite belt, Fluevog Radios shoes from Squash Blossom in Decatur

Markus is right -- the red is much more flattering on you. You just pop in it!
ReplyDeleteRED. :)
ReplyDeleteI like the red one better on you, too. Both look good, but the red really brings out the flush in your cheekbones.
ReplyDeleteI was going to vote Blue, because you said they are your favorite colors to wear (I always think you get more use out of clothes when you love the colors) HOWEVER, then I read that you already own this dress in navy so...I vote red :)
ReplyDeletei vote red!
ReplyDeleteIf you must choose, I'd vote red, as you have the navy solid one already. It's more cheery -- better for Spring and upcoming Summer.
ReplyDelete[Though I'm not really one to talk, as I have the navy, green, *and* red-orange solid ones...! After searching for YEARS for the perfect shirtdress, however, I feel {mostly} justified. ;P That and the fact I've worn each several times over already.]
I personally like the red version of the dress better. I think it is still subtle but pops better. And I agree with Tien, it goes better with your coloring.
ReplyDeleteHowever, should you decide NOT to keep the red version, I would be more than happy to help take it off your hands for you. I mean it, lady.
I like the blue, just because the color pallete of the dress is much prettier and flattering because it is more monochromatic than the red one. I agree that your skin looks better in the red, but my favorite colors are blue too.
ReplyDeleteWhich one would you wear more? Prob the blue- so go for it!
Well you know I'm partial to the blue, but that's for myself, because with your skintone, the red is just perfection! You are glowing in it, so keep the red!!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely keep the red! The blue looks fine, but you really look like something special in the red.
ReplyDeleteOh man...you look SO lovely in both! But since you have the navy version already, and also because it looks like the red makes your skin look somehow rosier, I'm voting red!
ReplyDeleteSeriously, though, the Reed is perfection on you.
Haha it looks like the resounding response is for the red! I'll have to look at both again once I get home from class.
ReplyDeleteRed.
ReplyDeleteRed for sure!
ReplyDeleteI like the red on you, as well, but you do look good in both. Since you said you have the navy, I'd vote for keeping the red.
ReplyDeleteI'm having the exact same dilemma... I own the navy (and am wearing it now), but can't decide whether to keep the blue or red plaid! Is it excessive to keep both? Yes... but they fit really well and are sort of timeless..
ReplyDeletethe red one, for sure.
ReplyDeleteI would go with the red without hesitation!
ReplyDeletered ... i really like how you have the blue one styled, but the red one does look better on you. both look good, though. good luck! :)
ReplyDeleteThe red looks far and away better than the blue.
ReplyDeletei own and love the blue but i have to say the red is fantastic on you!
ReplyDeleteI like the blue. I just LOVE blue, and have a hard time voting against it. I also love it with the blue shoelaces!
ReplyDeletered!
ReplyDeleteThe Red looks the best on you in the pic! Shoes go perfect too! It's definitely a coloring issue :)
ReplyDeletedefinitely the red!
ReplyDeleteI was going to say red, but if you really love the blue, then blue!
ReplyDeleteI vote red!
ReplyDeleteRed...definitely!
ReplyDeleteI own the blue and love it but the red looks gorgeous on you!
ReplyDeleteAnon @ 5:34--I won't tell! I recently realized I could be on an episode of Hoarders, however, and must make a decision.
ReplyDeleteHaha, everyone including my BFF and boyfriend seems to favor the red!
ReplyDeleteMy sister claims that I am "posing better" in the red, thus implying that I like it more. And that I styled it in a more pleasing way.
Oh, decisions decisions!
After finally seeing you in both plaids I'm sticking with the red because the colors really pop on you.
ReplyDeletei vote red!
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, how is it fair to make us decide when you look so flipping cute in both?! Which one did you pick Jinah??
