The super adorable Kjrsten and Anna of {have a cute day} have declared it florals week. I am always up for a themed dress-up, so of course I signed on board! I decided to interpret florals loosely today with my favorite tulip printed skirt. I've had this bright skirt for years and it never fails to put me in a great mood. I was a busy bee today, and all of the colors I was wearing really helped to lift my mood while buzzing around.
I'm so glad to have another theme to dress to! Maybe next week I'll go for nautical wear... This dressing to specific themes reminds me of a certain little "fashion club" my friend Lana and I tried to start in college. Since we were at an engineering school that was primarily male, a lot of students scoffed, stared, or made fun of us when we would try to implement fun dress-up days. Even during finals week, when everyone could use a little something to put a smile on their face! I'm no longer trying to pass around the fashion plate in the name of school spirit, so I'm glad to finally be in a niche that supports a little bit of frivolity!
A huge shout out to some of my favorite bloggy ladies also participating this week: make sure to take a peek at what Maria, Tien, Dea, and Tara are wearing today! And check out {have a cute day} for the full list of participants. I'm excited to add some cute new reads through this project.
And of course at the end of my busy bee workday, I whisked myself off to the mall. I couldn't be there for the door-opening stalker stampede I would have preferred, but I managed to grab a few things from this week's markdowns at Anthropologie. I was super happy to see that both of these skirts on my wishlist went on sale, and even happier to see that there was one each in my size when I was perusing the racks at closing time.
My haul:
Cartography Cardigan (NOT on sale! This was a special treat
for making the grades I wanted this semester, whoo hoo!)
Scalloped Sailor Skirt (now $49.95)
Seabound Skirt (now $59.95)
I didn't go too crazy and stayed on budget for this sale. Did anyone else take a trip to ye olde Anthro for the sale? It took a lot of self control for me not to look at anything else in the store other than these three items.
Love the skirt, and the picture of you with your hair blowing in the wind is so fabulous! I thought the cartography cardi went on sale today? I bought it last week and was going to try to get a price adjustment on it...
ReplyDeleteDid Mark ask you about going to the RenFest next weekend? [29th or 30th] It would be roughly $20 for admission + drink + meal + game.
ReplyDeleteLMK- :D
I love the skirt and colors! This outfit would make me feel very happy running around in it, too! I hope Anthro releases the cartography cardigan in another color because this one washed me out so badly.
ReplyDeletehello! new reader - i love your outfit today! that skirt is too sweet and i love the mini mini! glad you got a couple of good things from the sale too :)
ReplyDeleteTara--I definitely feel like that shot should be an outtake, but my boyfriend insisted I use it since it is so hilarious. Since he was nice enough to Photoshop these shots, I obliged.
ReplyDeleteMary--I have to work! It is Arts Fest in Decatur and there is no way I will be able to take off work. Bummer!
Tien--It didn't even occur to me to check that I could wear this shade of beige. Hmm, I tried it on with a colored top underneath and didn't notice it washing me out. If they did a grey or navy, I'd probably get that one as well.
aimee--The mini mini is my favoooorite! It's the cutest thing ever. I wish I carried it more--I need to stop wearing black so I don't feel weird and Halloweeny.
I love that skirt Jinah - it's so pretty on you - great outfit! I was just admiring that Forever 21 necklace over the weekend, and now you're making want to go back and grab it!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the sale haul. I've sat it out so far, as I was underwhelmed, but I'm heading there tomorrow to get the Graphical Dress, so we'll see.
Kim--I'm impressed with your discipline! Since you're saving money not splurging on your Anthro habit, why not pick up the necklace? I think the blue version would be adorable on you.
ReplyDeleteAdorable stuff you got on sale. Thinking about the cardigan...what size you end up getting?
ReplyDeleteadorable outfit!! I adore the colors!

Anon--I got an XS, which is what I usually wear in cardigans and tops from Anthro and J. Crew. It does run small though, so I'm considering exchanging it for a S. Hope this helps!
ReplyDeleteAwww, such a darling outfit! That skirt is too cute, and I should maybe look on Ebay for it! Great sale choices, and I say that b/c I own the Seabound skirt and just picked up the Scalloped Sailor!!
ReplyDeleteGreat outfit! I really like everything you paired with the skirt. And your sweedish hasbeens seem to go with everything!
ReplyDeleteNothing on my Anthro wishlist went on sale. I had to go to the store yesterday to return the wright dress (too small!) but I did walk away with the florid facade blouse in sky - so happy they restocked it! You picked up some cute items!
