After spending a good chunk of the past few days obsessing over the Mulberry Alexa bag, I decided to pull together a somewhat Chung-inspired outfit. The only thing that was any kind of issue is that she does a lot of separates, and I'm a dresses girl. I dissected her look in my head and it broke down to something like short skirt + slouchy top + boyfriend blazer or cabled cardigan + oxford flats or chunky heels. Seems simple enough.
But geez, the skirts that I do have aren't anywhere near that short! I don't know why. I am still in the proper age group (I guess?) to own and wear such things...
So I spent some time browsing the Frugal Fashionista archive for a bit this morning, and felt more inspired and confident that I had some boy/girl looks somewhere in my closet. This is the resulting outfit. Man, this blazer saves my life so often. It's like my version of a zip-up hoodie or Jackie cardigan.
Later in the day, I picked up this necklace and decided it would be perfect with what I was already wearing. I paid for it and put it on while walking back to my car. I think this piece will also work with lacy black tops and slouchy jersey looks.
You look great - that dress is darling!
ReplyDeleteI have a RM MAM in Cloud Gray and I just love it - you wear yours well :-)

Ooo I like your Alexa Chung inspired look better than a lot of Alexa's looks ;) I think she looks gorgeous, but partly because she has legs to go up to my ears. I just can't pull off shorts and oxfords like she does. I'm also more of a dress girl myself ;)
ReplyDeleteLoooove the new necklace! You look gorgeous as always, Ms. J!
cute outfit! i love the dress. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm a dresses-type girl myself as well! :) And I love this dress! It went on sale at Urban not long ago, and I was pretty desperate to get it. But it sold out. :/
